The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team kicked off its West Coast trip with an impressive effort from senior Francisco Velazquez and junior A.J. Garabedian as the tandem advanced to the fourth round of the consolation bracket at the Pacific Coast Doubles Tournament held at the La Jolla Beach Tennis Club.
The duo was knocked out of the main draw after losing an 8-1 decision in the Round of 64. In the consolation draw they recorded a 9-7 win in the second round and an 8-5 vicoty to advance to the fourth round where they fell 8-2.
In other action, junior Jimmy Holland returned to the court and paired with classmate Antonio Aniello. They lost to the eventual tournament runner-up in the Round of 64 (6-2, 6-2) and then were defeated 9-8 in the consolation third round.
Senior Van Homer Pangilinan and Chris Spencer lost 6-1, 6-0 in the First Round of the Main Draw and then dropped an 8-2 decision in the consolation fourth round.
