MONROEVILLE, PA - Taking the doubles point and then splitting the singles matches, Saint Joseph's edged George Washington, 4-3, at the Club 4 Life to finish seventh at the 2006 Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championships. Freshman Pat Adams, sophomore Phil Garabedian and senior Antonio Aniello registered singles victories for the Crimson and Gray.

SJU opened quickly securing the doubles point with wins by Jimmy Holland and Antonio Aniello at number one (8-6) and Chris Spencer and Adams at number three (8-1).

The two team then split the singles matches with the Hawks finally securing the win with a three-set victory by Phil Garabedian, playing his first match of the tournament, at number six. SJU was forced to tweak its lineup after A.J. Garabedian was scratched at number two and everyone moved up one position. Adams posted a straight set win at third (6-2, 6-1), while Aniello also won easily at fifth (6-3, 6-3).

SJU had two chances to win the match as both Garabedian and Holland played three sets. Holland jumped up quickly winning the first set, but dropped the final two at number one, dropping a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 decision. Garabedian also won teh opening set and then had to take teh third set to win 6-2, 5-7, 7-5 to lift the Hawks to the win.

Richmond won its third straight title, and fourth in five seasons, after defeating top-seeded Charlotte, 4-3, in the finals. In the third-place consolation match, Temple snuck past Dayton, 4-3. Xavier captured the fifth-place match after registering a hard-fought 4-3 win over St. Bonaventure. Duquesne and Saint Louis round out the top ten, respectively. Fordham, Rhode Island and La Salle finished 11th, 12th and 13th overall.
