MANAHAWKIN, N.J. – Saint Joseph's graduate forward
Manu Ghigliotti has been named the National Field Hockey Coaches Association's Mid-Atlantic Player of the Year, the organization announced on Thursday morning.
Ghigliotti is the first Hawk to be named the regional Player of the Year in program history.
A native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, Ghigliotti tied for the team and Atlantic 10 lead in points while also tying for the team lead in goals and assists. Her 14 goals matched her career high, while her 12 assists and 40 points were new career bests.
Ghigliotti earned her fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 All-Conference First Team honor this season as well as her fourth All-Mid-Atlantic Region honor; she was tabbed for the All-Region First Team for the third time in her career. She went on to earn Atlantic 10 All-Championship laurels as well as a place on the NCAA All-Tournament Team as she helped lead the Hawks to their fourth consecutive Atlantic 10 title and the program's first-ever trip to the national championship game.
A two-time Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year (2021, 2023), Ghigliotti was named the fourth NFHCA All-America First Team honoree in program history a season ago.
Also selected as Regional Players of the Year were Sophia Gladieux of Penn State (Mideast), Allison Smisdom of Albany (Northeast), North Carolina's Ryleigh Heck (South), and Maddie Zimmer of Northwestern (West).
The National Player of the Year is set to be announced on December 19.
