Women's Tennis Opens ITA Regional Play

BLACKSBURG, Va. – A pair of Saint Joseph's freshmen took part in the doubles draw on Friday at the 2019 ITA Atlantic Regional Women's Tennis Championships at Virginia Tech's Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.

Anna Kirk and Stow Weiss dropped their opening match to Samantha Smith and Hanna Wikberg of Penn State, 8-2.  The pair will play a consolation match later this weekend.

"Their defeat was a loss to a steady team," head coach Ian Crookenden said.  "There were several chances at deuce in the no-ad scoring match, but freshman nerves were apparent.  It was a solid performance for their first time in Regional competition."

Junior Amanda Nava will kick off her tournament on Saturday in the main singles draw.
