Since the opening of Ellen Ryan Field in the fall of 2011, the Hawks have become a power in the Atlantic 10, claiming seven Atlantic 10 regular season titles (2016-19, 2021-23) and seven postseason tournament championships (2017-19, 2021-24).
The Hawks have won three of those tournament titles on their home turf (2018, 2021, 2024) and in 2024, Saint Joseph's hosted NCAA Tournament First and Second Round games for the first time. The Hawks topped Lafayette in the First Round and Princeton in the Second en route to the program's first-ever Final Four; the Hawks would then beat #1 North Carolina, the two-time defending national champion, in the semifinals to become the first Saint Joseph's team to earn a trip to an NCAA national championship game.
Prior to the construction of Ellen Ryan Field, the Hawks played on campus at Finnesey Field until the end of the 2007 season.  After three-plus seasons of playing home games across town at Drexel's Buckley Field, the Hawks returned home in September of 2011. The field was officially dedicated on October 7 of that year in honor of longtime administrator and the driving force behind the growth of women's sports at Saint Joseph's, the late Ellen Ryan. With the installation of the new pitch in 2024 came a new locker room for the Hawks as well.
