LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ (09/16/03) -- Saint Joseph's swept the second through sixth singles spots in earning a 6-1 win over Rider to pick up its first win of the season. SJU improves to 1-3, while the Broncs drop to 0-1.
Senior
Katie Bobish started things off with a 6-2, 6-2 win at second singles, followed by sophomore
Nicole Morrison with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number three. Junior
Michelle Savage had little trouble at fourth singles, earning a 6-1, 6-1 victory as well.
At number five, sophomore
Jess Swanderski was a 6-1, 6-0 victor and freshman
Erika Guers added a 6-0, 6-2 win at number six.
The Hawks also won the doubles point, thanks to wins (8-4) by Guers and sophomore
Sofia Carreno at second doubles and freshmen Marisa Donelson and Alisa Van Meter (8-8, 7-2 tiebreaker) at number three.
SJU returns to action on Saturday at Towson at 1 p.m.
