Men's Tennis Falls, 7-0, at Penn

PHILADELPHIA - Playing without two of its top players, the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team lost to Penn on Wednesday afternoon, 7-0. The Quakers improved to 3-0 while the Hawks fell to 0-2 on the spring.

Sophomore Jeff Kessler missed his second straight match and senior captain Nick Tuxen, SJU's lone winner in the season opener, missed today's match due to illness.

Freshmen Alex Veronis and Tommy Gates turned in respectable results in Wednesday's match. Veronis played at second singles for the second match in a row and fell, 6-3, 6-3, to Phil Law. Gates dropped his match in the sixth flight, 6-1, 6-4, to Mark Milbrandt.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Friday night at the Upper Dublin Sports Center for a 6:00 p.m. match with Xavier.
