SPRINGFIELD, Pa. -
The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team dropped its regular season finale on Wednesday afternoon as Villanova emerged with a 4-3 victory indoors at the Healthplex Sports Club.
The Wildcats took the top two doubles flights to secure the doubles point before Kristian Broaddus and Tommy Gates were winners in the third.
Alex Veronis won his first flight singles match over Thomas O'Brien, 6-4, 1-6, 6-3, while Peter Cognetti was a straight sets winner in the fourth flight. Broaddus finished his day with a win in the sixth flight, taking down Andrew Adler in straight sets.
Unfortunately for the Hawks, Villanova took singles wins in the second, third, and fifth flights to secure the match victory.
Saint Joseph's now heads to St. Louis, Missouri, for this weekend's Atlantic 10 Championship. The Hawks will face off with Dayton at 8:00 a.m. on Friday morning at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in first round action.
