Women's Tennis Knocks Off St. Bonaventure, 5-2

PHILADELPHIA - Picking up wins in five of the six singles flights, the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team downed St. Bonaventure, 5-2, Saturday afternoon at the SJU Tennis Complex.

Opening the match with a win by Maggie Mullaney and Casey Robinson at No. 1 doubles, the Hawks and Bonnies battled for the other two spots. Unfortunately for SJU, the Bonnies prevailed in both matches, winning 9-7 at the second flight and 8-6 at the third to earn the doubles point.

Switching to singles, the Hawks came alive. Robinson breezed to a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 1 singles, while Devi Jadeja made quick work of Maria Barousse at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Mullaney posted the third win for SJU, earning a 6-3, 6-0 win at the third flight, while junior Tara Walsh fought to a 7-6, 7-5 win over Kathryn Kvas at the fourth flight to secure the win for SJU. Junior Kate Dowd added the additional point with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the fifth flight.

Saint Joseph's keeps up its busy schedule facing Fordham and Rhode Island on Sunday at the SJU Tennis Complex.
