The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team hosted the Navy Day Regatta on October 13 and showed solid progress in their results.
In the Freshman 8+, the Hawks' "A" boat placed fifth with a time of 14:04, with the Penn Lightweights taking first place. The Hawks "B" boat finished 17th in the race with 22 entries.
SJU's JV8+ placed seventh out of team, clocking a 14:17 as Navy took first place.
In the Men's Open/Collegiate 8+, the Hawks' first varsity boat placed seventh out of 19 entries, clocking a 13:39. The First Freshman boat took 13th, followed by the Second Varsity in 15th place.
"All of our boats made a solid step forward from our opening race in Connecticut. We enjoy hosting the Navy Day Regatta and it was good to see the guys moving forward in a competitive field on our home course," said coach Mike Irwin.
The Hawks will send their Varsity 8 to the Head of the Charles Regatta on October 20. SJU will race beginning at 3:43 p.m. For information on the regatta, click here.
