PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team competed at the Head of the Charles Regatta, sending the Varsity 8 boat.

The Hawks finished 20th out of 37 entries in the College 8+ with a time of 16:44. Virginia won the race in 15:44.

SJU's lineup was: c- Caroline McGuire; 8- Jamal Anderson; 7- John Lesko; 6- Marc Ioli; 5- Vincent Scelso; 4- Daniel Walz; 3- Daniel Ezzo; 2- David Robinson; 1- Matt Johnson

"The event had a very strong field but we certainly aren't happy with a 20th place finish," said team captain Jamal Anderson. "We haven't been to the Charles in a few years and it was a race experience we will use to become a stronger squad. After a long weekend on the road I know guys are looking forward to racing on home waters at the Head of the Schuylkill this coming weekend."

Saint Joseph's will be back in action on Saturday, September 27 at the Head of the Schuylkill.
