NEWARK, Del. -
The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team put forth a tough battle at Delaware on Saturday night, but eventually fell, 4-3, to the Blue Hens.
Falling behind 1-0 after dropping the doubles' point, the Hawks got back in the match quickly with wins at the top two singles flights. At No. 1 singles, Junior Casey Robinson needed three sets, but dispensed of Dorothy Safron, 6-0, 6-7, 10-8.
Sophomore Devi Jadeja got SJU its second point with a victory at No. 2 singles. Needing three sets as well, Jadeja came through with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Courtney Fenimore. Freshman Kelly Mulquin would also prevail for the Hawks in three sets, posting a 4-6, 7-6 (6), 10-3 win over Olivia Heim at the sixth flight.
Unfortunately for SJU, Delaware was able to claim the other three singles flights for the 4-3 win.
