Playing its second match in two days, the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team fell to defending Atlantic 10 champion George Washington, 7-0, at the Riverside Racquet and Fitness Club on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks battled in the match, dropping 8-6 results in both the second and third doubles flights. Junior captain Tommy Gates won the first set of his third-flight singles match before capitulating to Viktor Svensson in a supertiebreak.
SJU now enjoys a 13-day break in the schedule before returning to action on February 18. The Hawks will host Duquesne at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside.
