The seventh-seeded Saint Joseph's men's tennis team was eliminated from the Atlantic 10 Men's Tennis Championship on Friday afternoon, falling to 10th-seeded Dayton, 4-3, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.
Dayton won the doubles point to take an early lead, winning both the first and third flights by tight 9-7 margins. The Flyers then took three singles matches to advance to the quarterfinals.
Junior Alex Veronis was a winner in the first singles flight, taking a three-setter from Dayton's Aidan Koross, 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Dan Barrus and Max Montague provided victories for SJU as well; Barrus won his fourth-flight match in straight sets over Robert Salcedo, 6-4, 7-5, while Montague dismissed Colin Bernier, 6-4, 7-6 (6) in the fifth.
