Men's Rowing 4/28/2012 8:00:00 AM SJU Athletic Communications Men's Rowing Competes at Bergen Cup April 28, 2012 PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team competed at the Bergen Cup, which represents the city championships, on the Schuylkill River on Saturday. The Hawks placed fourth in the Varsity 8 and took third place in the Second Varsity 8, racing its Lightweight 8 lineup. SJU also took fourth place in the Second Varsity 8 with its "B" boat, while the Varsity 4 placed fourth. "Our Varsity Lightweight lineup put up a good fight with Drexel and Temple in the Second Varsity Eight event. We fell a bit behind off the start but kept pressing all the way down the course," said coach Mike Irwin. "The two heavyweight eights did not race to their abilities and it is going to be a busy week getting those lineups sorted out during our exam period. We have been looking forward to May and the Dad Vail all year long so it is going to be an intense final two weeks."
