Men's Tennis Tops Delaware, 4-3

ELKTON, Md. - The Saint Joseph's men's team rallied to victory on Saturday night, taking points in the final four singles flights to top Delaware, 4-3, at the Elkton Indoor Courts.

It was the first win for the Hawks over the Blue Hens since the 2002-03 season.

Pierre Brondeau was a double winner in the match, teaming up with Alex Veronis for a win in the third doubles flight before dismissing Mike Furr in fourth singles.

Jose Sierra was a winner in the third singles flight, stopping Nolan Gelman by a 7-5, 7-5 score. Max Montague and Jeff Kessler locked up the team victory with straight sets wins in the fifth and sixth flights, respectively. Montague was a 6-3, 6-4 winner over Jason Derene, while Kessler dropped just one game in cruising past Alex Sweet, 6-1, 6-0.

The Blue Hens took the doubles point with wins in the first and second flights, and also earned singles wins in the top two flights as well.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on Friday, February 22, when Fordham visits the Upper Dublin Sports Center at 7:00 p.m.
