Men's Tennis Knocks Off Dayton, 4-3

PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Despite dropping the doubles point on Saturday, the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team battled back to take four singles matches en route to a 4-3 win over Dayton.

The Flyers won the doubles point with 8-5 victories in all three flights. The Hawks were not deterred, however, and came through with victories in the second, fourth, fifth, and sixth singles flights.

Jose Sierra and Max Montague were straight-sets winners. Sierra took a 7-6 (4), 6-3 result over Andrew Hanley in the second flight, while Montague was a 7-6 (5), 6-1 winner over Colin Bernier in the fifth.

Meanwhile, in the fourth flight, Tommy Gates battled for a 6-0, 5-7, 6-4 win over Robert Salcedo, while Dan Barrus won a 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 three-setter over Kyle MacDonald in the sixth flight.

The Hawks will play Duquesne on Sunday afternoon. The match is set to begin at noon.
