PHILADELPHIA -
The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped a competitive match to Atlantic 10 rival Temple, 5-2, Thursday afternoon. The Hawks won at the top doubles flight and sophomores Aurora Davis and Lauren Roy added singles wins.
Opening in doubles play, the SJU duo of Davis and Casey Robinson posted an 8-3 victory at No. 1 doubles, but the Owls would grab wins at the other two matches to take the first point.
Switching to singles, Davis got the Hawks on the board with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at the second flight. Roy, who dropped the first set, battled back for a 1-6, 6-0, 11-9 victory at the sixth flight.
Unfortunately for SJU, Temple claimed the other four singles matches for the 5-2 win.
The Hawks return to action Friday versus La Salle.
