RICHMOND, Va. - Playing indoors due to poor weather conditions, the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 result at Richmond on Saturday.
"We played a shortened format to accomodate playing on two indoor courts, and unfortunately that helped Richmond more than SJU," said head coach Ian Crookenden.
The teams played four singles matches, with the Spiders taking all four. The win did not come easy, however, as both the third and fourth flight tilts were decided by tiebreakers.
"Our top two players never got started," said Crookenden. "Then, despite two great first-set wins by Dan Barrus and Tristan Boustany, it took two 10-point tiebreakers for Richmond to clinch the victory."
The Hawks return to action at home on Tuesday afternoon when they host Drexel.
"The squad has a good positive attitude going into the Drexel match, despite this setback," said Crookenden.
Tuesday's match is set for 2:00 p.m.
