MERION STATION, Pa. - Saint Joseph's senior Aurora Davis repeated as champion of the first singles flight at the SJU Invitational, and in doing so became the the Hawks' all-time leader in wins with 68.
Entering Sunday's semifinals tied for the SJU all-time record with 66, Davis made quick work of Sacred Heart's Katie DeRienzo, 6-0, 6-1, to become the all-time leader in wins.
Looking to claim her second straight singles title, Davis bested Drexel's Nicole Pivonka, 6-2, 6-2 for the tournament championship and her program-leading 68th win.
In the second doubles semifinals, the Hawks duo of Anne Marie Devlin and Arianne Polatnick fell to Delaware's Amanda Studnicki and Christina Harrington, 8-4. Devlin would cap the day in the fourth singles quarterfinals versus Delaware's Abby Martinez as Martinez prevailed 6-4, 6-4.
Rookies Maureen Devlin and Robyn Ferraro advanced to the semifinals of the second doubles consolation bracket before falling 6-2 to Fairfield's Karen McKeough and Meghan Zimmer.
Sophomore Alex Zachem topped Sacred Heart's Paige Olsen 3-6, 6-3, 10-2 in a second singles consolation match, while Ferraro bested the Pioneers' Pezzullo 2-6, 7-6 (5), 10-8 in a third singles consolation match.
Rounding out action, junior Kristina Eisenbrand fell to Villanova's Alexandra Kroguis, 6-2, 6-0.
The Hawks return to action at the ITA Regionals starting October 17 at Virginia Tech.
