Men's Tennis Drops Tight Match to Richmond, 4-3

AMBLER, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team dropped a close match on Friday night, falling to Richmond, 4-3, in its first hme dual match of the season at the Upper Dublin Sports Center. The Hawks took an early lead, winning the doubles point, but the Spiders took four of six singles tilts to earn the victory.

Junior Renier Moolman and freshman Peter Dewitt teamed up for an 8-6 win in the second flight, while seniors Pierre Brondeau and Mike Fallone clinched the point with an 8-7 (6) win in the third flight.

On the singles side, Richmond earned wins in the first and second flights to edge ahead on the overall scoreboard. After a three-set win in the third flight gave UR a 3-1 lead, Andres Urrea and Tristan Boustany came through with 6-0, 4-6, 6-4 and 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 wins in the fourth and fifth flights, respectively, to knot the match at three.

Unfortunately for the Hawks, Dylan Trent defeated junior Kevin Gates, 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3, in a three-set thriller to give Spiders the 4-3 win.

Saint Joseph's returns to action on February 20 when the Hawks host Delaware at the Upper Dublin Sports Center.
