Men's Tennis Tops Delaware, 6-1

AMBLER, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team posted a 6-1 win over Delaware on Friday night at the Upper Dublin Sports Center. Four Hawks earned two wins apiece to help lead SJU past the Blue Hens.

"We always have great matches with Delaware, and this was no different, despite the final tally," said head coach Ian Crookenden.

Junior Renier Moolman and freshman Peter Dewitt teamed up to clinch the doubles point, taking an 8-6 result in the second flight. Junior Kevin Gates and sophomore Tristan Boustany set the table, finishing off their third-flight match with an 8-4 win.

All four were victorious in singles play as well, winning their matches in straight sets. Dewitt cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 win in the sixth flight before Boustany posted a 6-4, 6-2 result in the fourth. Gates was a 6-1, 7-5 winner in the fifth flight, and Moolman wrapped up the night with a 7-6 (2), 6-4 decision in the top flight.

Junior Andres Urrea was also a singles winner, emerging victorious in a super tiebreaker in the third flight.

With the win, the Hawks improved to 3-2 on the season, while Delaware fell to 0-7. SJU is back in action on Saturday, February 28, against Saint Francis (Pa.) at the Upper Dublin Sports Center.
