FARMVILLE, Va. - Senior Aurora Davis and junior Arianne Polatnick picked up singles wins, but the Saint Joseph's women's team fell to Longwood, 5-2, Thursday afternoon.
Davis posted a 6-3, 6-2 singles win at the top flight, while Polatnick dominated in a 6-3, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles.
The Hawks (1-2) would put up strong efforts, going to three sets in three of the other four singles flights, but Longwood picked up wins in those three matches and claimed the doubles point and another singles victory.
Senior Lauren Roy added a 6-0, 6-2 win in exhibition play.
"In the first outdoor match the team went downm but it was a good match," said head coach Ian Crookenden. "Nobody got blown off the court so rallies were long and it was a real contrast to the indoor conditions of their previous two outings. It will be a building experience that is part of the preparation for growth."
Saint Joseph's returns to action Saturday versus Appalachian State.
