DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis squad fell at conference newcomer Davidson by a 7-0 score in their first outdoor match of the spring on Sunday afternoon. Five of the six singles matches went to three sets as the Hawks put forth a valiant effort for the second consecutive match.
The Wildcats took the first two doubles flights in tight, 8-5, 8-6 results, while the third flight went unfinished with Davidson leading, 6-5.
In singles play, SJU took early leads in the fourth and sixth flights, and battled back to equalize the second, third, and fifth flight matches, but ultimately, Davidson came away with three-set wins in all five flights to secure the sweep.
The Hawks will return to action on Saturday when they host Bucknell at the SJU Tennis Complex.
