BALA CYNWYD, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team dropped its match to Albany, 5-2, Friday at the Riverside Aquatic and Fitness Center.
After falling behind 1-0 following the doubles matches, the Hawks (2-4) battled back in singles as Maureen Devlin and Arianne Polatnick each picked up wins. At the fourth flight, Devlin posted a 7-6 (3), 6-3 decision over Alba Sala, while Polatnick earned a 2-6, 6-7 (4), 10-7 victory over Kirsten Scott at the sixth flight.
Saint Joseph's would put up battles in the final four singles matches, forcing two to go to three sets, but the Great Danes proved too much, earning wins in all four flights.
The Hawks return to action on Saturday when they host Bucknell.
