MERION STATION, Pa. - Senior Anne Marie Devlin picked up a victory at the sixth singles flight, but it wasn't enough for the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team as the Hawks fell to Duquesne, 6-1, Friday afternoon at the SJU Tennis Complex.

Opening the match in doubles play, Duquesne took the opening point with wins at all three flights.

The Hawks got a spark from Devlin at the six flight in singles play as she battled back after losing the first set, 2-6, to take the second set, 7-5 (5) and take the third set 15-13 in a marathon point.

The Dukes would take the match though as they claimed the other five singles matches.

"A tough match for our lady Hawks," said SJU head coach Ian Crookenden. "Battling a strong Duquesne squad plus challenging outdoor windy conditions, we fought hard, but came up short."

The Hawks return to action this Sunday at home versus Davidson.
