BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team began the Spring Break portion of its schedule with a 5-2 loss at Lehigh on Saturday.
Opening the match in doubles play, Lehigh took the first point with victories at all three flights.
After a victory by the Mountain Hawks in the fourth flight to take a 2-0 edge, senior Kristina Eisenbrand got SJU on the board with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Jamie Campisi.
Lehigh earned a win at No. 1 singles to move to 3-1, but Arianne Polatnick posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at the fifth flight to pull the Hawks within a point, 3-2.
Unfortunately for Saint Joseph's, Lehigh was able to earn wins in the final two matches to earn the team win.
"No doubles were hitting on all cylinders today, and despite some well played matches, we went down fighting," said head coach Ian Crookenden.
Saint Joseph's (2-2) returns to action on Monday at Saint Francis (Pa.).
