PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team (9-3, 4-1 NEC) heads to Penn (8-5, 4-2 Ivy) for non-conference action this Tuesday, April 26. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Rhodes Field. The Hawks have won six of their last seven while the Quakers are on a three-game winning streak.

Through 12 games, Tewarraton Award Watch List selection Mike Rastivo (30g, 16a), sophomore attackman Chris Blewitt (20g, 15a), senior midfielder Kevin Forster (17g, 13a), and sophomore attackman Kyle Cain (17g, 13a) lead SJU with 30+ points while seven total Hawks have scored 10+ goals for the Crimson and Gray. Junior face-off specialist Mike Lanham has gone 62.3% (127-of-204) from the X to go with a team-best 61 ground balls. Senior John Winchell (team-best 12ct, 0.0 penalty minutes) and juniors Charles Giunta and Shane Taggert have anchored SJU's defensive unit. Junior goalkeeper T.J. Jones (9-3, 4-1 NEC) sports a 7.40 goals against average and .586 save percentage in 680:44.

Tuesday's game will mark the 13th all-time meeting between the Hawks and the Quakers; Penn has won all 12 games. Saint Joseph's fell, 11-10, in overtime to then-#14/12 Penn on Sweeney Field last season and is 0-4 under the direction of head coach Taylor Wray.

After starting the season 5-2 with wins over Michigan (12-10), then-#20 Penn State (11-7), Lafayette (12-6), Princeton (20-10), and Cornell (9-6) and losses to then-#11 Virginia (15-10) and then-#13 Villanova, the Quakers dropped three straight to then-#6 Maryland (13-8), then-#1 Yale (11-10 OT), and then-#3 Brown (17-6) before turning in three straight wins over Harvard (14-13), UMBC (8-7), and, most recently, Dartmouth (11-4) this past Saturday. Nick Doktor (13g, 31a) and Simon Mathias (25g, 10a) lead the Quakers in scoring while Reed Junkin (7-5) sports a 10.23 goals against average and .540 save percentage in 774:07.

The Hawks had their six-game winning streak snapped as the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse team fell at Robert Morris, 13-8, in Northeast Conference action at Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore attackman Kyle Cain led the Hawks with three goals and one assist.

RASTIVO NAMED TO TEWAARATON AWARD WATCH LIST
Saint Joseph's junior attackman Mike Rastivo was selected to the 2016 Tewaaraton Award watch list, the Tewaaraton Foundation announced on February 23. The list includes the top men's lacrosse players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse and highlights the early contenders for the 2016 Tewaaraton Award, presented by Under Armour. The Tewaaraton Award annually honors the top male and female college lacrosse player in the United States. The selection committees are made up of premier collegiate coaches and are appointed annually by The Tewaaraton Foundation. Five men's and five women's finalists will be announced on May 12 and invited to the ceremony. The 16th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held in Washington, D.C., on June 2.
On SJU's all-time career lists, Rastivo ranks ranks sixth in career goals (100), ties for seventh in points (142), and ranks ninth in shots (255) and 10th in assists (42). The junior also owns a point scoring streak of 34 games, which ranks ninth among active Division I players.
SWANICK NAMED SENIOR CLASS AWARD FINALIST, WINCHELL CANDIDATE
Ten NCAA® men's lacrosse student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as finalists for the 2015-16 Senior CLASS Award® for collegiate lacrosse, and Saint Joseph's senior attackman Pat Swanick was tabbed a finalist for the prestigious award. All of Swanick's achievements in the areas of community, classroom, character, and competition can be found in his Senior CLASS Award biography. Fan balloting counts for 1/3 of the total with the remaining 2/3 determined by NCAA Division I coaches and national media members, and fans can vote for Pat now through May 9!
Senior defenseman John Winchell was also honored by the Senior Class Award, having been selected one of 20 original candidates back on February 16.
