ORLANDO, Fla. - The Saint Joseph's golf team shot a one-under-par 287 in Friday's opening round of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship at the Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort.
Playing at the par 72 New Course at Grand Cypress, the Hawks finished the day in seventh place, 14 shots behind Richmond and George Washington (273)
Sophomore Ross Pilliod and junior Tyler Sokolis led the Hawks as they both shot one-under-par 71in Friday's opening round and are tied for 19th. Freshman Michael O'Brien will enter Saturday's round tied for 28th a shot behind his teamamtes at even-par 72, while senior Drew Taylor carded a one-over-par 73 and is tied for 33rd. Freshman Reed Winkler rounded out the five-man squad with a three-over-par 75 and is tied for 44th.
Saturday's second round is set to begin at 8:15 a.m. for SJU.
