The Saint Joseph's women's rowing Freshman 8 continued its winning ways as it won a gold medal at the Dad Vail Regatta in subpar conditions on the Schuylkill River. The Hawks' Varsity 8 also captured bronze for its first medal since 2010 as SJU finished second in the women's team standings. It was also the first time Saint Joseph's won two Dad Vail medals since 2011.
The Hawks placed second in the team standings with 20 points, behind Drexel (28) and ahead of Massachusetts (17). SJU's men's and women's teams combined to finish third in the overall team standings with 42 points, behind Drexel (56) and Delaware (51).
The Freshman 8 has won in three of four regattas this season, and captured SJU's first-ever Dad Vail gold. The Hawks clocked a 6:54.06 to defeat Case with a lineup of: c- Shannon Mulgrew; 8- Gabby Gorman; 7- Demi Simms; 6- Sam O'Connell; 5- Maura Donnelly; 4- Emma Schuettler; 3- Kelsey Bellomia; 2- Fiona McKee; 1- Kate LaCasse.

The Hawks' Varsity 8 posted a bronze-medal finish for SJU's best effort in that event since a silver medal in 2010. The Second Varsity 8 finished fourth with a crew of: c- Jess Crosby; 8- Reece Long; 7- Sam Haines; 6- Caroline Strauss; 5- Brianna Stone; 4- Lauren Slattery; 3- Fiona Devine; 2- Dom Milillo; 1- Alyssa Vanni.
SJU's Varsity 4 placed sixth with a lineup of: c- Caitlin Kennedy; 4- Kerri Roman; 3- Cassie Francis; 2- Olivia Sullivan; 1- Rose Tavianini.
RESULTS
The season concludes for the entire Hawk team, but the Varsity 8 will travel to the Henley Royal Regatta in England on June 16-18.
