MEDIA, Pa. - In a match not indicative of its final score, the Saint Joseph's battled Towson Saturday night at the Springton Tennis Club. Despite putting a strong effort in every match, the Hawks fell to the Tigers, 6-1.

At the doubles flight, Amanda Nava and Isis Gill-Reid were 6-3 winners over A.J. Gomer and Renate van Oorschodt at the top flight, but the Tigers claimed wins in the other two doubles matches to earn the first point of the day.

Nava got SJU on the board in singles play as she topped Lucy Williams, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.

Maureen Devlin, Laura Gomez and Lourdes Sprinckmoller all went to three sets in their singles matches, but the Tigers would hold on for wins in all three of them and finished winning five of six matches for the team win.

"Another match that was much closer than he final score. Individually the ladies are getting more and more match fit and comfortable," said SJU head coach Ian Crookenden. 

Saint Joseph's returns to action on February 23 when it hosts Quinnipiac at 7:30 p.m. at the Springton Tennis Club.
