PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse team opened the home portion of its schedule on Wednesday afternoon, falling to 15th-ranked Navy, 19-12, at Sweeney Field.  Five different Hawks tallied at least two goals, led by Sam McGee's three.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Midshipmen (1-1) jumped out to an early lead with four goals in the first 4:27 of the game, but it would be the Hawks that controlled the next five minutes, closing to within a goal at 4-3 with 19:27 to go in the half.  Penny Green got things started before Stephanie Kelly tallied two goals 33 seconds apart to draw the home team within one.

• Navy would tally eight of the last 10 goals of the half to take a 12-5 lead into the break.  Sophia Kolkka opened her account for the season for SJU with 12:29 to go in the frame, and Kaela Smith scored the first of her two goals on the day with 8:30 remaining.

• Navy extended the lead shortly after halftime, but Bridget Cerciello and Smith scored back-to-back to cut the deficit to six.  Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, four Midshipmen goals in 90 seconds made it a 17-7 game with 21 minutes remaining.

• The teams would trade goals, with Green netting her second and McGee notching her first of the day, before SJU closed out the scoring with the final three goals of the game; McGee tallied twice, sandwiched around a second goal from Cerciello.
