Men's Lacrosse Falls at #2/#1 Penn State, 19-4

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The Nittany Lions duo of Tewaaraton Award Watch List selections Grant Ament and Mac O'Keefe combined for 13 points to propel #2/#1/#1 Penn State past the Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse squad, 19-4, at Panzer Stadium on Saturday afternoon. With their first setback of the 2020 campaign, the Hawks even out at 1-1 while the Nittany Lions improve to 3-0.

Sophomore face-off specialist Zach Cole went 12-of-20 from the X with a game-high seven ground balls while senior goalkeeper Mike Adler (1-1) made 12 saves vs. 16 goals allowed in 54:13 as Penn State peppered the cage with 31 shots on goal.

Junior midfielder Evan Campbell, redshirt freshman attackman Levi Anderson, sophomore midfielder Zach Mantei, and junior attackman Matt Tufano scored for the Crimson and Gray.

After Campbell scored the first goal of the game (12:46) on a feed from junior midfielder Austin Strazzulla, Penn State scored 10 unanswered goals to take a 10-1 advantage into the 12:05 mark of the third quarter.

Anderson, who led the Hawks with four shots on goal on eight total shots, then notched his team-leading fifth goal of the season (7:21) before PSU scored the game's next five to extend its lead by 13 goals, 15-2, with 7:53 to play in regulation.

Mantei (7:04) and Tufano (5:25 EMO, assisted by junior attackman Nate Patterson), scored two of the next three goals, but Penn State scored three straight to close the contest.

Saint Joseph's will host Delaware (2-0) in the 2020 home opener this Tuesday, February 18. Opening face-of is set for 4:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.
