TUCSON, Ariz. - Saint Joseph's senior
Caela Abadie homered for the first time this season, but a strong effort by the Hawks' softball team fell short as No. 4 Arizona prevailed, 11-1, in five innings on Tuesday evening at Hillenbrand Stadium.
How It Happened
• After a scoreless opening two innings that saw both teams collect a pair of hits each, Arizona plated eight runs in the bottom of the third as the Wildcats took advantage of two Hawk errors and posted seven hits, including a pair of home runs to open an 8-0 lead.
• Saint Joseph's got on the board in the top of the fourth as Abadie connected for a solo home run to right field to make it 8-1.
• An RBI double by Arizona's Ivy Davis sparked a three-run bottom of the fourth that saw the Wildcats extend their lead to 11-1.
• The Hawks'
Sarah Ostaszewski reached on a two-out double in the top of the fifth, but Arizona would get a fly out to end the game.
• In the circle,
Ashley Stokes moved to 1-4 on the season as she allowed three earned runs on five hits over 2.1 innings.

Saige Stutz tossed an inning of relief and allowed two earned runs on two hits, while
Amanda Herr allowed five earned runs over 0.2 innings.
• At the plate, Abadie was 1-for-2 with the home run, while Ostaszewski,
Molly Kapala and
Jordan Hinkle each finished with a hit on the night.
