• Nava put in another strong performance in the top singles flight, battling back from a set down to force a supertiebreaker, but the Wildcats went on to sweep all six contests.
HAWK TALK
"Another tough opponent made tougher this time by it being our first outdoor match of the season," head coach
Ian Crookenden said. "Davidson was more prepared for the breeze and natural light, but our ladies fought hard as usual. Amanda had a very good day, challenging Davidson in the number one position in both doubles and singles. Especially heartbreaking was her singles tiebreaker loss when she fought from 9-4 down to tie it at 9-9, only to have the match taken away 11-9 by excellent play from her opponent. No need to hang her head after that gutsy display.
"Outdoor conditions and our lack of play outside contributed more to the performance of our other players as they struggled to compete against another experienced conference opponent."
