ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team saw its fall slate come to a close this weekend as the three remaining Hawks were eliminated from contention at the ITA Atlantic Regionals at the U.S. Naval Academy.
Nathan Perrone fell in the fourth round, one match shy of qualifying for the Super Regional championship, by a 7-5, 3-6, 6-1 score to Charl Morgan of Penn State.
On the doubles side,
Nickolas Frisk and
Alp Sentay reached the final 16 before falling to a duo from VCU, 8-3.
"We wrapped up the fall season with ITA Regionals; it was good that everyone was accepted and was able to compete in both singles and doubles," assistant coach
Marc Pibernat said. "It was good that everyone got at least one win in singles. A good display of tennis by Alp and Nicko, in which they both reached the third round in both singles and doubles, and a shout out to Nate for reaching the last round in singles and being competitive even thought he didn't find his best tennis in his last match.
"Eshan, Nassim, and Alex also competed well in their singles matches and they all lost to very good opponents but remained competitive, which is what we always aim for. Overall there's no doubt that this was a great fall season for us, not just results-wise but also the switch we made in the schedule which allowed us to be prepared for all the tournaments we played. Now it's time for the guys to focus on their academics until we will be back competing for the spring season."
