Women's Rowing Competes At Head of the Charles

BOSTON – Facing a strong international field this weekend, the Saint Joseph's women's rowing team had a strong showing in its three events at the Head of the Charles Regatta.

"We had a great trip to Boston; results were really solid. Most important to us is where are we against our A-10 competition, and we are in a really great place as far as time. We have overcome a lot this fall and are looking forward to where we can go as a team," said Saint Joseph's head coach Gerry Quinlan. 

How It Happened
• The Hawks' Club 8 of c-Alexa Romanella, 8-Aislinn O'Brien, 7-Corinne O'Neill, 6-Carly Bachinsky, 5-Allison Ruck, 4-Hannah Howard, 3-Molly Duncan, 2-Riley McDade, 1-Emma Staples had the full Head of the Charles experience, including, clashing oars with several teams, but ultimately had a great race and a solid showing placing 17th of 33.
Saint Joseph's Club 4 of c-Anna Gambescia, 4-Hannah Ashcraft, 3-Anna Martin, 2-Steph McKenna, 1-Michaela Mulkerrins had its best row of the week as it battled all the way through the course after a tough starting position of third.
The Hawk's Alumni 8 of c-Shannon Mulgrew, 8-Shane Devine, 7-Demi Simms, 6-Natalie Simms, 5-Allie Howell, 4-Reece Long, 3-Cailin McCully, 2-Kate Lacasse, 1-Jennifer Raphaelson, composed of a majority of 2020 graduates who missed the spring portion of their senior season, had a solid showing, passing several crews along the way.
• Following the race, Saint Joseph's christened a four as the "Class of 2020."
