PHILADELPHIA –
The third seeded Saint Joseph's men's soccer team (8-8-2, 5-2-1 A-10) will host sixth seeded Duquesne (8-6-2, 3-3-2 A-10) on Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Atlantic 10 Championship Quarterfinals.
 
ABOUT SAINT JOSEPH'S:
  • Senior Garrett Lyons and graduate student Omry Perel are tied with 12 points each to lead the team.
  • Lyons is one of four Hawks with four goals this season.
  • Perel has three scores and six assists, one behind classmate Aidan Watkins for the team lead.
  • Rookie Lars Haavie (4-6-1) has been the starting keep for a bulk of the season. He holds a 1.32 goals against average, 47 saves, and a .734 save percentage.
  • The Hawks have played against four teams currently ranked or receiving votes in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll (#8 Saint Louis, #25 UNC Greensboro, RV Princeton, and RV Cornell), with wins over UNC Greensboro and Princeton. St. Joe's fell to #8 Saint Louis in double overtime and to Cornell by one.
  • This is the highest ranking for the Hawks in the Atlantic 10 since 1994.
  • Sunday's match will be the first postseason game in program history at home.
  • It's the first trip to the postseason since 2013.
  • With eight wins this year, it is tied for most under head coach Don D'Ambra.
ABOUT DUQUESNE:
  • Maxi Hopfer is the team's leading scorer with 27 points on 11 goals and five assists. He had the lone score against SJU earlier this season.
  • Nate Dragisich (13), Zach Mowka (13), and Ryan Goodhew (11) are all over the double-digit point threshold.
  • Domenic Nascimben (8-6-2) has played every second in net this season. He has a 1.91 goals against average, 81 saves, and a .72 save percentage.
LAST TIME THEY MET:
  • SJU topped the Dukes earlier this season 3-1 at Sweeney Field.
  • Duquesne led 1-0, before the Hawks scored three unanswered.
  • Perel, Lyons, and rookie Blake Driehuis all scored in the match.
