Historic Season Comes to an End for Men’s Soccer Against Duquesne in the A10 Quarterfinals


PHILADELPHIA – With two goals in the final five minutes, the Duquesne Dukes (9-6-1) ended an historic season for the Saint Joseph's men's soccer team (8-9-2) with a 2-1 result.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Hawks dominated the offensive efforts in the first half with 11 corner kicks and 10 shots.
  • St. Joe's struck first in the second half with a score by graduate student Matias Mancini. In his first game back from injury, Mancici stayed grounded in the box for a rebound goal during the 80th minute.
  • Tom Tzabari knotted the game during the 85th minute after a feed from Maxi Hopfer.
  • Less than three minutes later, Jaime Borjas took a service from Ryan Goodhew for the game winner.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • SJU finished with a season high 14 corners and added 19 shots.
  • Mancini picked up the unassisted score.
  • Rookie Lars Haavie (4-7-1) picks up the loss with two goals against and three saves.
