WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Saint Joseph's women's tennis team once again showed some strong play, but in the end it was George Washington that emerged with a 5-2 win at the East Potomac Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Amanda Nava was the winner in the top singles flight, earning a 6-2, 0-6, 10-7 supertiebreaker victory, while
Sophia Amato claimed a 6-2, 5-7, 10-6 win in a tiebreaker in the sixth flight.
"A very important and impressive match today," head coach
Ian Crookenden said. "I am very proud of our ladies for the fight and competitive spirit they displayed. Winning two matches in supertiebreakers was a courageous finish to a tough weekend."
The Hawks are right back in action Tuesday at Drexel.
