Women's Rowing Places Fourth At A-10 Championship; Devine, Mulgrew and O'Neill Named All-Conference

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The Saint Joseph's women's rowing team capped its 2021 season with a fourth place finish at the Atlantic 10 Championship on Saturday at the Cooper River. The Hawks' 2nd Varsity 8 captured bronze in its Grand Final, while Shane Devine was selected to the A-10 All-Conference First Team, and Shannon Mulgrew and Corinne O'Neill were named to the A-10 All-Conference Second Team.

How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's Varsity 4 of c-Alexa Romanella, 4-Anna Martin, 3-Sara Garstka, 2-Raquel Lam, Ashley Radell opened the event placing third in its heat in a time of 8:28.565to qualify for the Grand Final.
• In the Grand Final, the Hawks' Varsity 4 completed the course in a time of 8:43.387 to finish sixth in the field and give SJU four points.
• In the first of two 2nd Varsity 8 heats, Saint Joseph's boat of c-Sarah Vest, 8-Molly Duncan, 7-Teresa Crosby, 6-Catherine McGonigle, 5-Steph McKenna, 4-Morgan Sherman, 3-Haley Hukari, 2-Catie Moffett, 1-Michaela Mulkerrins finished second in a time of 7:16.965 to qualify for the Grand Final.
• The Hawks' 2nd Varsity captured bronze in the Grand Final, placing third in a time of 7:19.262 to collect 14 points.
• In the morning's final heat, Saint Joseph's Varsity of c-Mulgrew, 8-Devine, 7-Allison Ruck, 6-Julia Ianieri, 5-O'Neill, 4- Hannah Howard, 3-Carly Bachinsky, 2-Aislinn O'Brien, 1-Riley McDade qualified for the Grand Final in a time of 7:17.477
• The Hawks' Varsity 8 improved its time by nearly 18 seconds in the Grand Final as Saint Joseph's finished in a time of 6:59.556 to place fifth, less than two seconds behind third-place Dayton.
• With its Varsity 8 earning 15 points, Saint Joseph's finished the A-10 Championship with 33 points to place fourth in the nine-team field.
• Rhode Island, which won all three Grand Final events, won the team title with 54 total points.
