MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team kicked off its home tournament on Friday as the Hawks opened play at the 12th SJU Invitational at the SJU Tennis Complex. Play commenced in all four main singles draws and both doubles flights.
Nathan Perrone and
Alp Sentay were winners in their first round matches in Singles Flight 1, while
Nickolas Frisk fell in a supertiebreaker, as did
Nassim Fenjiro in the second flight.
Eshan Kanetkar was a winner in a supertiebreaker in the third flight, while
Alex MacNeil rolled to a win in the fourth.
On the doubles side of the ledger, Perrone and Fenjiro advanced to the quarterfinals of the top flight, as did Frisk and Sentay. Kanetkar and MacNeil went down in their second flight match and slipped into the consolation draw.
