Men’s Soccer Draws with Minutemen in Atlantic 10 Matchup

AMHERST, Mass. – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team went on the road and grabbed a draw against Massachusetts on Saturday afternoon, the two teams settling for a 0-0 result in Atlantic 10 action.

The Hawks move to 1-1-3 in the A-10, the Minutemen now 1-0-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Luis Ludosan was called into action early in the contest, making his first save of the afternoon in the sixth minute.
  • Despite a few Hawk opportunities over the next 15 minutes, it was the Minutemen who once again tested the frame as Ludosan again responded with a save to keep it scoreless.
  • Alex Hood tested the Massachusetts keeper for the first time in the 39th minute, forcing Matt Zambetti to his right to make the save. On the other end, a massive double save with just seconds between the attempts from Ludosan kept the score 0-0 as the sides entered halftime.
  • The first big chance of the second half came way of SJU, James Fletcher lashing on an attempt that was saved by Zambetti. Less than a minute later, Ludosan made his fifth save of the afternoon on the other end of the field.
  • Ariel Hadar and Kenyatta Collins also forced the keeper into making a save, with pressure mounting for the Minutemen as the score remained 0-0 after an hour.
  • With the final whistle drawing near, the last chance of the game for the Hawks came through Garrett Lyons. SJU won a corner and the captain's effort went wide to fall for a goal kick.
  • Massachusetts grabbed the last chance of a game, but once again it was the German goalkeeper that was able to come up with another big save as both sides would settle for a 0-0 draw.
