EMMITSBURG, Va. – With five points apiece from
Levi Anderson and
Carter Page, Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse routed Mount St. Mary's, 19-6, to open NEC play on Saturday. The Hawks advance to 6-2, 1-0 NEC, while the Mount drops to 3-6, 0-1 NEC.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mount tallied the initial goal of the game before the Hawks went on a 5-1 run to the end of the first up 5-2.
- SJU widened the gap in the second with a 7-1 advantage, including the first six of the period. The Hawks held a 12-3 lead at the half.
- St. Joe's held the home team scoreless in the third stanza and scored six to boost the margin to 18-3.
- Mount St. Mary's scored three times in the final frame and allowed just one score for a 19-6 win for the visitors.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- 13 Hawks recorded a point Saturday afternoon.
- Anderson finished with four scores and one assist, while Page tallied five goals to lead all scorers.
- Tucker Brown registered four goals.
- Seven Hawks finished with two points – Colin Reich (2A), Matt Bohmer (2A), Austin Strazzulla (1G, 1A), Mac McLaughlin (2G), Zach Cole (1G, 1A), Ryan Overbay (2A), and William King (2A).
- Choice Mostellar (1A), Adam Ritter (1G), and David Shew (1G) all had a point.
- Cole went 15-of-20 from the X with 10 ground balls.
- On the defensive end, Joe Burnham picked up five ground balls and caused one turnover.
- Robbie Seeley (2-0) picked up the win with seven saves and five goals against.
- Tucker Almany finished the final 10:58 in cage. He saved a pair of shots and gave up a goal.
