FAIRFAX, Va. – Despite a gritty effort throughout the Atlantic 10 Softball Championship, Saint Joseph's 2022 season came to a close on Friday as the third seeded Hawks fell to fifth seed Dayton, 3-1, in an elimination bracket contest at George Mason Softball Complex.
How It Happened
• Dayton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second inning on a RBI groundout by Kaelene Walter.
• A solo home run by
Kaelin Cash tied it at 1-1 for the Hawks in the bottom of the third.
• The Flyers retook the lead, 2-1, in the top of the seventh on a RBI single by Emma Schutter.Â
• Dayton added to its lead as Emily Daniel scored from third on a double steal to make it 3-1.

Emily Siler was the hard-luck loser as she capped the season with a 13-13 record as she allowed one earned run, on five hits, while striking out one.
• Cash finished the day 1-for-3 with her third home run of the season.

Madison Fife went 1-for-2.
