The Saint Joseph's softball team secured the third seed for the upcoming 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship as the Hawks swept their doubleheader from Rhode Island on Sunday at SJU Softball Field.

On Senior Day, St. Joe's opened with a 2-0 victory in game one, and capped the afternoon with a 20-2 win in five innings to finish with a 14-8 mark in conference play and earn the third seed in the six-team event. Saint Joseph's will open the A-10 Championship on Wednesday as it takes on sixth seed Massachusetts at 2:30 p.m. The 2022 A-10 Championship, which is being held at George Mason Softball Complex, runs through Saturday, May 14, with the conference title game set for noon on the final day.

How It Happened • Game One
• Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third as Jordan Hinkle scored from second on a RBI single by Madison Fife.
• The Hawks added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth as Sarah Cancila scored on a RBI single by Kaelin Cash to make it 2-0.

Inside The Boxscore • Game One
• Amanda Herr improved to 6-5 on the season as she scattered seven hits, while striking out four in a complete game shutout.
• Cancila was 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored.
• Fife was 1-for-2 with a RBI.

How It Happened • Game Two
• The Hawks took control early as they exploded for five runs in the bottom of the first inning.
• Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead on a RBI double by Cash that allowed Hinkle to score.
• A single up the middle by Hailey Malito scored Cancila to push the lead to 2-0.
• Taylor Marinelli followed with a RBI double that scored Cash to open a 3-0 edge.
• Malito came around to score the fourth run on a RBI groundout by Kayla Tauber.
• Marinelli made it 5-0 as she scored off a fielding error on a ball hit by Nicole Bondoc.
• In the bottom of the second, Cancila scored from third on a RBI groundout by Malito to make it 6-0.
• Saint Joseph's struck for five runs in the third to open an 11-0 lead.
• Rhode Island got a run back in the top of the fourth, but the Hawks responded with nine runs to push ahead 20-1.
• The Rams got a run in the top of the fifth, but St. Joe's didn't allow any further runs as it capped the regular season with a victory.
