PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's golf team is in 12th place after Saturday's opening round of the season-opening Cornell/Temple Invitational.
How It Happened
• As a team, the Hawks posted a score of 300 (+20) in Saturday's opening round and are in 12th place heading into Sunday's final round.
•
Kevin Smith paced Saint Joseph's with a score of 73 (+3) and enters the final round tied for 29th place.
•
J.T. Spina shot 75 (+5) in the first round and is tied for 51st place.
•
Jake Avery and
Ryan Gorman each carded rounds of 76 (+6) and are tied for 57th place.
• Freshman
Matt Zerfass rounded out the five-man squad with a round of 78 (+8) in his first collegiate event.
• Playing as an individual, freshman
Christian Matt shot 76 (+6) in his first college round and is tied for 57th.
• Rhode Island leads the 15-team field by five strokes at 274 (-6).
• Rhode Island's Brandon Gillis and Temple's Ethan Whitney are tied atop the individual leaderboard after each fired rounds of 66 (-4).
• The Cornell/Temple Invitational is being held at the par 70, 6,951-yard 1912 Club.
