LYNCHBURG, Va. – Members of the Saint Joseph's women's tennis team opened play at the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships on Thursday.
Fabiana Tort-Umpierre won the first set of her match against Georgetown's Morgan Coburn in the qualifying singles draw before ultimately falling in a supertiebreaker. She would then go on to defeat Brooke Murphy of Radford in a supertiebreaker, 6-2, 5-7, 10-7, in the consolation draw.
Ireland Amato fell to an opponent from George Washington, while
Victoria Tracey went down to a seeded opponent from Old Dominion. Both fell in consolation matches as well.
Play continues on Friday with the opening matches of the main singles and doubles draws.
