PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team used strong performances in both singles and doubles to earn a 5-2 win over Marist at the Legacy Indoor Tennis Center on Saturday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (4-2) won the doubles point with wins in the first and third flight.  Justus Agbo and Alejandro Vedri were 6-4 winners in the first, while Inigo Diaz and Nassim Fenjiro won their third-flight tilt, 7-6.
 
• Diaz started singles play with a straight-sets win in the third flight before Vedri did the same in the first flight.
 
• Agbo won a three-setter in the second flight to earn the clinching point for the Hawks.  After the Red Foxes earned wins in the fourth and fifth flights, Oscar Serra set the final margin with a comeback win in the sixth.

"What a way to bounce back from the tough loss we suffered last weekend," head coach Marc Pibernat said.  "It was crucial for us to win the doubles point going into singles today because we knew beforehand that the six singles matches were all going to be absolute battles.
 
"Today, the top of the lineup carried the team to this win.  A huge shoutout to Justus for clinching the match with his big win at #2 singles, and also to Alejandro and Inigo for winning their doubles and singles matches.  We still need to improve as a team and there are things we must change in order to compete even better than what we are doing.  It was a great win for us and Monday we will be back on the courts to prepare for our match against Hampton on Tuesday.  Go Hawks!"
