PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team used a dominant singles performance to top Hampton, 5-2, at the Legacy Indoor Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Hampton took the early lead, winning both completed doubles flights to earn the first point of the day.
 
• The Hawks took the lead when Inigo Diaz and then Alejandro Vedri won in the third and first singles flights, respectively, but the Pirates drew level with a win in the fourth.
 
• It was all Saint Joseph's from there, as Justus Agbo battled back from a set down for a win in the second flight before Oscar Serra clinched the victory with a dominant performance in the sixth.  Nassim Fenjiro ended the day with a supertiebreaker win in the fifth flight.

"Today was a solid win for us and the most important thing is that we kept the momentum we built in our last match," head coach Marc Pibernat said.  "I am very proud of this group of guys that come together and leave everything they have on the court.  Today's win was not easy at all – especially losing the doubles point, which we are struggling to get this year – but somehow the guys are playing very good singles all across the board and that is what is giving us these wins.
 
"A special mention to Oscar Serra for clinching the fourth point and also to Alejandro, Justus, and Inigo, who are coming huge for us at the top of the lineup.  The Hawks will rest tomorrow and we will go back to work on Thursday to prepare for our big weekend we have in Pittsburgh.  Go Hawks!"
